10 to 28 February, 2001. Jumping in the streets will be on the 26 and 27 of February, with the activities kicking off on the 10 of February, with the Official Opening of Carnival 2001 starting at the Pottersville Savannah through the streets of Roseau to Festival City ! Three time Calypso King Scrunter last week-end emerged as the top competitor in the quarter finals of the Calypso Competition. Scrunter was judged number one from a field of 31 calypsonians with his calypso " I ain't coming for Crown." Placing second was the Ghost, newcomer De Bob was third, Man Himself fourth, Observer fifth, Daddy Chess sixth, Bouteille seventh, Bassie eighth, Haxey ninth, and Senator tenth. The other ten calypsonians who made it through to the semi final are Checker, Mico, Third Eye, Sharp Tooth, Black Starliner, Spider, Soul Puss, Jeff Joe, Soca Bull and Masked Eruption. Veteran Calypsonians Intruder, President Lily and Liberator did not make it past last weekend's Quarterfinal.
