Natasha Bellot
Miss Natasha Bellot - Grand Bay
Natasha Bellot is a 20 year old Libran who enjoys the peace and serenity of Dominica's Nature product and the pizzazz of its culture. She is encouraged by the support of her community and intends to represent Grand Bay to the best of her ability.

She stands 5"10" and loves the stage, and enjoys singing, reading, arts and crafts, hiking, meeting different persons, but most of all poetry, as it is in the window to you emotions as the eyes are to your soul.

She is a former contestant in the National Miss Wob Dwiyet competition placing first runner up and winning the Best Wob prize. During that year, she took up the responsibilities of the title when the winner forfeited her reign.

She graduated from Convent High School and continued to Sixth Form College doing Geography and biology subjects. She has dreams of being a geographer or geologist however, she intends to live her life being the best person she can be, with no bitter memories or regrets.

She is currently employed at the Youth Development Division. She enjoys this job because she has the opportunity to assist in grooming a young person not only academically. Cable & Wireless Dominica Limited is the sponsor of Natasha .


From the region of spectacular waterfalls and clear, cool freshwater lakes comes Vanessa Isles. At eighteen, Vanessa is the reigning Miss Trafalgar, Shawford and fond Canie.

Vanessa is currently employed at the Fort Young Hotel in the accounts department. She sees herself as a hard worker and wants to become a professional accountant in the future.

In that capacity, Vanessa believes that she can contribute greatly to her community and her country, by providing sound professional financial advice and services, skills which are not only necessary for survival, but for the prosperity of small businesses and villages in Dominica.

She stands 5"10" and weighs 125 pounds. She is a graduate of St. Martin Secondary School and enjoys dancing, writing poems, singing and corresponding. Vanessa is excited to be participating in this year's National Queen Competition and welcomes the opportunity to promote Dominica locally, regionally and internationally, should she win. Dominica Water and Sewage Company, (DOWASCO) sponsor of Miss Vanessa Isles.


Syle Durand
Miss Syle Durand - Petite Soufriere
At 5"2" and 110 pounds representing the eastern community of Petite Soufriere, 20 year old Juliette Syle Durand considers herself to be a very hard working and determined young lady with aspirations to further her studies in computers or to become a flight attendant.

A graduate of San Sauveur Government School, she is a former Miss Isidor and views the Carnival Queen Show as a challenge to her further pursuits in life. At present she is employed at Number One Store

where she interacts with different people on a daily basis. Her hobbies include dancing and modelling. This five foot tall and 110 pounds beauty displays a huge smile bursting with ambition. She looks forward to the camaraderie and friendly competition of the National Pageant. British Trade and Commerce Bank sponsor Syle.
Standing 5'7' and weighing 123 pounds, 23 year old Katherine Irish is proud to be representing the north eastern village of Marigot. She is a graduate of St. Andrews High School and the Clifton Dupigny Community College. A former High School teacher, she would like to pursue further studies in Accounting and Business Management, and hopes to become a chartered accountant and business owner.

Katherine was very active during high school and participated in athletics and was elected head girl in the student council.

She believes that the pressures of athletic competition and the leadership skills needed to steer the student council are qualities that will serve her as she competed in the National Queen Competition. Her future aspirations are to live a fun filled life while being financially independent. She also hopes to see a great majority of Dominica's youth educated, whether in academics or technical skills so as to provide them an opportunity for self-sufficiency. Katherine is now currently employed at Courts Dominica Limited, and is sponsored by the CWG, comprising Courts, H.H.V Whitchurch and Grand Bazaar.
Miss Velda Wade
Miss Velda Wade - Newtown
Velda Wade considers herself to be a people's person, a diverse individual Culturally minded and a lover of nature, children and elderly persons. She comes from Newtown by way of Grand Bay/Montine.

At 23 years of age, and 5"6", she is the reigning National Miss Wob Dwiyet and holds an accounting assistant position at Winera (Dominica) Limited. Velda has participated in athletics where she won several accolades. She is also

a member of the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre, the Peoples Action Theatre and is a stilts (Bwa Bwa) walker.

Her various activities have allowed her to perform in St. Lucia at the Derrick Walcotts Open Theatre and to take part in several theatrical productions as an actress and a stage manager. At present she plays the role of Sheila on the "Wake up Call", the latest T.V Series on abuse against Women.

Her future goal is to major in Caribbean Culture with a focus on arts and drama. She is fulfilling a childhood dream by competing in this pageant and looks forward to promoting Dominica, its carnival and unique culture. Velda is sponsored by WINERA (Dominica) Limited.


From Mahaut, the city that never sleeps comes the beautiful Janelle Sampson standing 5"8" and weighs 139 pounds. She is currently a teller at the Bank of Nova Scotia who enjoys modelling, dancing and meeting new people in her spare time.

A graduate of the Convent High School and the Sixth Form College Janelle hopes someday to work in the field of tourism. In the future she would also love to address the problems of her generation, especially in relation to the recent suicides among Dominica's youths.

Miss Janelle Sampson - Mahaut
Janelle believes that life's lessons and experiences are a great teacher. She intends to use her time in the spotlight during this competition as an opportunity to prepare for a life in tourism related activities. If she becomes Dominica's Carnival Queen, she intends to do her best to make her village and fellow Dominicans proud. Janelle is sponsored by Scotia Bank .
Ariel Williams
Miss Ariel Williams - Sans Sauveur
20 year old Ariel Williams was born under the Zodiac sign of Aries in the community of San Sauveur. She attended the Wesley High School and aspires to enter a life of politics, following in the footsteps of Honourable Gertrude Roberts, a person whom she admires. Her leisure activities singing, listening to music and dancing.

She loves to participate in community activities and holds an impressive record in pageants and competitions that she has entered.

She captured the titles of Miss Teenage Pageant in 1993, Miss Isidor in 1996 and she is the first current reigning Miss Noel. She believes that her past experience in these competition has prepared her well to compete in the National Queen Competition.

Ariel views her participation in this year's competition as a great way to show her love for Carnival and to showcase her talents. Should she win, Ariel pledges to do her best to make the Nature Isle proud. Ariel is sponsored by the National Commercial Bank.
